Armed Security
Visible, credentialed presence where the risk justifies it.
A credentialed presence changes behaviour before anything happens. That is the entire point of an armed post — not the response, the deterrent.
Police Protection Services supplies armed uniformed guards and off-duty police officers to businesses, institutions, events, and properties where a visible, credentialed presence is the point. Officers are placed according to what the site actually demands: a fixed post at a controlled entrance, a roving interior presence, or a coordinated detail across several access points.
An armed post is not the right answer everywhere, and we will say so. The assessment call covers what has prompted the request, who is on site and when, how people and vehicles move through the property, and whether armed coverage, unarmed coverage, patrol, or a combination fits the situation and the budget.
Scope
What an assignment can cover
Not every assignment uses all of this. The assessment call decides which parts apply to your site, and the ones that do get written into the post orders before anyone is scheduled.
-
Access and entry control
Screening, credential checks, visitor handling, and controlled entry at the points that matter.
-
Fixed and roving posts
Static coverage at a defined position, or a moving presence across a floor, lot, or campus.
-
Off-duty police officers
Sworn personnel for assignments where law-enforcement experience and presence carry weight.
-
Incident response and documentation
De-escalation first, then a written record of what happened, when, and what was done.
-
Opening, closing, and cash-movement coverage
Presence at the predictable moments when exposure is highest.
-
Short-term and standing assignments
A single night, a defined project window, or ongoing scheduled coverage.
On Site
How the work actually runs
An armed post is a fixed responsibility, not a patrol with a sidearm. The officer holds a defined position — an entrance, a lobby, a loading area — and works to written post orders that say who is admitted, what is checked, and what happens when someone refuses. Where the site needs movement instead, the same officer runs a roving presence across a floor, lot, or campus on a pattern agreed in advance.
The visible half of the job is presence. The half that gets used later is documentation: who came through, what was refused, what was unusual, and when. That record is routinely what a board, an insurer, or a lawyer asks for months after the shift ended, and it is written the same way whether or not anything happened.

Straight Answer
When this is not what you need
An armed post is not the right answer everywhere, and we will say so on the call. Many sites are better served by unarmed coverage, a patrol contract, or improved access control at a fraction of the cost. If armed presence is not what the situation justifies, that is what you will hear.
Common Questions
Questions we are asked first
If yours is not here, it is a good first question for the call.
Call (410) 977-1510Are your armed officers licensed in Maryland?
Armed security work in Maryland is regulated, and we will walk you through the credentials carried by the personnel assigned to your site before the assignment starts. Ask on the assessment call and we will be specific about who is being placed.
What is the difference between an armed guard and an off-duty police officer?
An off-duty officer is a sworn law-enforcement professional with the training, authority, and presence that role carries. An armed guard is a licensed security professional. Both are appropriate in different settings, and cost differs. We recommend based on the site, not the invoice.
Can you cover a single event rather than an ongoing contract?
Yes. Short-term and one-off assignments are routine, including single evenings, multi-day projects, and seasonal coverage.
