A patrol contract is the practical answer when a full-time post is more coverage than the property needs. Uniformed officers visit on a schedule you set, or on a randomized pattern that is deliberately hard to predict, and they leave a record of every visit. For apartment communities, construction sites, dealerships, and business parks, that record is frequently the whole point.
Patrol duties are written down before the first visit. What gets checked, in what order, what counts as an exception, and who gets called at two in the morning are all agreed in advance so the officer on site is not improvising.

What an assignment can cover
Not every assignment uses all of this. The assessment call decides which parts apply to your site, and the ones that do get written into the post orders before anyone is scheduled.

Mobile vehicle patrol
Marked presence through lots, roadways, and perimeters on the agreed pattern.

Stairwells, corridors, laundry and mail rooms, garages, and other spots a vehicle cannot reach.

Verifying that gates, doors, and access points are secured, and reporting the ones that are not.

How the work actually runs
Officers visit on a schedule you set, or on a randomized pattern that is deliberately hard to predict. Duties are written into post orders before the first visit: door and perimeter checks, lighting and condition reports, parking enforcement, access monitoring, and whatever else the property actually requires. Foot checks cover stairwells, corridors, laundry and mail rooms, and garages that a vehicle cannot reach.
Every visit produces a record. That record is the part clients end up relying on — a lighting report is what gets a dark stretch of parking lot funded, a logged unauthorized vehicle is what supports a tow, and a documented visit history is what a board or insurer is usually asking to see.

Patrol is presence at intervals, not continuous cover. If an incident is likely at a known time and place, a fixed post during those hours will do more than more frequent drive-throughs.

You set it. Some properties want a fixed number of checks per night, others want randomized timing so the pattern cannot be learned. Both are normal, and both are priced on the assessment call.
How do we know the patrol actually happened?
Every visit is documented, and the reporting format is agreed with you before the contract starts so it fits how your board, owner, or insurer wants to see it.
Can patrol be combined with a staffed post?
Yes, and it is a common structure: a post during high-traffic hours, patrol coverage overnight.
